Robinhoodlum

Robinhood is a fictional character, inspired by the famous Robinhood, in my post entitled, “The escape of the Rose Stone”:

“The stone is nowhere. It escaped from the flower garden of St. Peter (the impostor), who blessed his escape. Why not, his purpose is accomplished. St. Peter can make him present again, virtually, if he and St. Mark divide the flower garden into two halves: the halves and the halves-not.

Robinhood took the stone away in his illFortuner to evade the International Flower Court from making it as an ornament for a cut flower, somewhere in Neverland.

The Robin said, the stone did not “escape” by itself as it is handicapped by its own weight, and was not able to disguise himself because he failed to wrestle from St. Mark, his wig.

Upon return to the Flower Garden, Robinhood, who is now the Chairman of the Committee on Garden Rules Amendments, will introduce a new legislation redefining “escape” co-sponsored by two conspiring saints.“

A real Robinhood exists in the Senate of the Philippines, a member of the 13- member Majority, headed by Alan Peter Schramm Cayetano, who wrestled control from then Senate President, Vicente “Tito” Castelo Sotto III, now Senate Minority Leader.

Robinhood Ferdinand Cariño Padilla, also known by his Muslim name Abdul Aziz, is a Filipino actor who was elected as the number one senator of the Philippines, by a stroke of luck or manipulation, depending on the source of information. In Philippine cinema, he is known as the “Bad Boy” for his anti-hero gangster roles in films such as Anak ni Baby Ama, Grease Gun Gang, Bad Boy, and Bad Boy II.

As a result of the Senate coup by the “Magic 13”, dubbed “Trese Hudas” (Thirteen Judases) by its detractors, Robinhood became Chairperson of three main standing committees in the Senate of the Philippines: 1) Committee on Constitutional Amendments and Revision of Codes; 2) Committee on Cultural Communities and Muslim Affairs; 3) Committee on Public Information and Mass Media. In addition, he also serves as the Vice-chairperson for the Committee on Basic Education. These roles depart from his image as the “Bad Boy” and casts him among the erudite, imbued with profound, scholarly knowledge acquired through study and experience, despite his lack of these requisites.

In living up as an erudite, Robinhood is reinterpreting the meaning of the word “escape”, after the infamous escape of his colleague, fugitive Ronald “Bato” de la Rosa, who “walked away” with him, after being under the “protected custody” of the Senate. He also expanded the meaning of force majeure.

Under Article 1174 of the Philippine Civil Code, force majeure requires an unavoidable event that makes it physically impossible for individuals to carry out their duties, such as COVID-19 and other pandemics, world wars, natural calamities.

Robinhood has interpreted this definition to include extreme weather and ongoing global conflicts in the Middle East and international tensions between China and Taiwan and severe climate conditions like extreme heat. All that to make Bato and members of the majority being charged with plunder, to participate in critical decisions in the Senate that usually requires their physical presence.
