Residents in Metro Manila and several parts of Luzon should prepare for more rain on Wednesday as the southwest monsoon, or habagat, continues to affect the country, PAGASA said.
The weather bureau said the habagat, along with the weather system linked to Tropical Depression Krovanh, may bring scattered rains and thunderstorms over Metro Manila and multiple Luzon provinces. While not every area will see nonstop rain, sudden downpours may still cause street flooding, slower traffic, and possible disruptions during the day.
Parts of the Visayas may also experience rainy conditions, while Mindanao and other areas in the Visayas are expected to remain generally hot and humid, with localized thunderstorms still possible later in the day.
PAGASA is also monitoring the possible formation of a low-pressure area by Friday, which could further strengthen the habagat. If that happens, more areas may experience heavier and more frequent rains heading into the weekend.
For the public, the reminder is simple: bring rain protection, monitor local advisories, avoid flooded roads when possible, and stay alert for sudden weather changes. Even without a direct storm landfall, a strengthened habagat can still bring enough rain to disrupt travel and affect flood-prone communities.
