The Philippine National Police (PNP) recorded a total of 53 incidents nationwide during the Holy Week observance, including cases of drowning, vehicular accidents, fires, and various crimes.
According to PNP Public Information Office chief Col. Randulf Tuaño, the most reported incident was drowning, with 31 cases—a 28 percent drop from 43 incidents recorded last year. Other reported incidents include five vehicular accidents, one robbery-holdup, and cases of stabbing, lascivious acts, and minor threats.
Among the major incidents was a large fire that broke out at an industrial facility in Veinte Reales, Valenzuela City. The blaze started at 5:21 p.m. on April 18 and was placed under control by 8:12 a.m. the next day. After more than 48 hours of firefighting operations, the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) declared the fire fully extinguished at 6:12 p.m. on April 20. No casualties were reported.
Despite the incidents, the PNP described the overall Holy Week observance as generally peaceful, noting a 24 percent decline in total incidents compared to 2024. The PNP remains on heightened alert, with up to 69,000 personnel deployed nationwide until the end of May.
