Man killed in firecracker blast during New Year’s revelry in Dagupan City

DAGUPAN CITY – A 44-year-old man tragically lost his life after a firecracker he was lighting in front of his home exploded and struck him in the head during New Year’s celebrations.

The victim, identified as Allan Ballesteros, was with his live-in partner at their residence on Paras St., Barangay Bonuan Gueset, Dagupan City, when the incident occurred at around 12:10 a.m. on January 1, 2025.

Initial reports indicate that Ballesteros was lighting a firework outside when it unexpectedly detonated, causing a fatal injury to his head. His partner quickly sought help, and the victim was rushed to the Region 1 Medical Center for treatment.

Despite efforts to save him, Ballesteros was declared dead by attending physicians shortly after arriving at the hospital.
