Amid Sen. JV Ejercito’s call on Chinese Ambassador Jing Quan to leave the Philippines, declaring, “West Philippine Sea is ours! Go home!” — a Facebook post resurfaced online showing Ejercito as a former brand ambassador of Linglong Tires–Team Ridemax Philippines, a tire brand from China.
The post drew criticism from political commentator Sass Rogando Sasot, who questioned Ejercito’s criticism of China while endorsing products from a Chinese company.
“Senator JV Ejercito contributes to strengthening the economy of his most hated country—China—by being the BRAND AMBASSADOR of one of China’s biggest tire manufacturing companies,” Sasot said in a post, referring to the endorsement.
Linglong Tire is a tire manufacturer based in Shandong, China.
