The Task Force Davao (TFD) held its inaugural Muslim Youth Congress on Tuesday, gathering 80 young Muslim leaders to promote leadership development and community engagement.
TFD Commander Col. Darren Comia stated that the event focused on equipping participants with skills such as critical thinking, problem-solving, and communication to help them contribute positively to their communities.
“This initiative aims to safeguard the city’s future by preventing radicalization and ensuring the youth are actively involved in peace, security, and development efforts,” Comia said.
The participants represented the six Muslim tribes in Davao City, fostering dialogue and collaboration among the diverse groups.
One of the attendees, Izdihar Mangelen, described the congress as a valuable opportunity to contribute to policymaking and advocate for peace in Davao City and the broader Mindanao region.
“This platform allows us to unite, exchange ideas, and work toward the progress of our communities,” Mangelen said.
Another participant, Rana Mahmod, expressed appreciation for the program, noting its role in strengthening the local Muslim community.
The congress is part of TFD’s broader efforts to engage the youth in initiatives promoting harmony and development across Davao City.
