A tragic traffic incident on old By-Pass Road, Barangay Tanaytay, Alaminos City left two dead and three others injured Monday night, February 2.

Initial investigation revealed that a black Euro Motor 125 tricycle (kulong-kulong) without a license plate, driven by a 30-year old male, single, was traveling northbound with three passengers: a 25-year-old female, single and three months pregnant; a six-year-old girl; and a one-year-old girl, all residents of Victoria, Tarlac.

The tricycle was ahead of a red/gray Honda Click 125  driven by a 20-year old male welder and student permit holder, carrying a male back rider, 41, a call center agent, both from Alaminos City.

A white Isuzu Traviz driven by a businessman of Villasis, Pangasinan was traveling in the opposite direction.

Authorities reported that the tricycle rear-ended the kulong-kulong, causing the tricycle to swerve into the opposite lane. The passengers of kulong-kulong were thrown onto the pavement, and the approaching Isuzu Traviz sideswiped the tricycle. The drivers of kulong-kulong and tricycle, along with the passengers of kulong-kulong, were rushed by the Alaminos City Response Team to Western Pangasinan District Hospital for medical attention.

However, the 25-year-old pregnant woman and the one-year-old girl died while undergoing treatment. The six-year-old girl survived. The driver of Isuzu Traviz was unharmed. All involved vehicles sustained damages, with repair costs still undetermined. (Eva Visperas)
