Zamboanga City secures 7th place in ‘Batang Pinoy Games’ 2024

The delegation from Zamboanga City achieved the 7th place out of 177 participants in the Batang Pinoy Games 2024 held in Puerto Princesa, Palawan, from November 23 to 28.

The team brought home a total of 74 medals, comprising 29 gold, 26 silver, and 19 bronze. The city government of Zamboanga said that the achievements of the team is in part due to the “skills and determination of the young athletes, as well as the guidance of their dedicated coaches and officials.”

The Batang Pinoy Games, a national grassroots sports program spearheaded by the Philippine Sports Commission, provided a platform for youth athletes aged 15 and below to showcase their talent in various sporting disciplines. Participants from across the country competed in events such as swimming, athletics, martial arts, and team sports.

Zamboanga City’s delegation competed in multiple events, excelling particularly in individual and team sports. Their efforts helped the city rank within the top 10 among 177 participating cities and municipalities nationwide.

City sports officials expressed their gratitude to the athletes and their coaches for their “commitment and hard work, which brought pride and honor to Zamboanga City.” They also acknowledged the support of local government leaders and the community in fostering the development of grassroots sports.
