Red Cross delivers aid to Typhoon Julian victims in Northern Luzon

The Philippine Red Cross (PRC) swiftly responded to the aftermath of Super Typhoon Julian (international name: Krathon) by distributing hot meals and essential medicines to people affected across Northern Luzon. As the storm intensified, around 450 families—approximately 1, 600 individuals—were displaced in provinces like Ilocos Norte, Ilocos Sur, Cagayan, Batanes, Abra, and Baguio City.

In Ilocos Norte, one of the most severely impacted areas, the PRC served hot meals to 194 evacuees and provided medicines to 72 individuals. Alongside immediate food and medical support, the PRC also conducted health lectures on leptospirosis and other diseases to 25 evacuees. First aid stations and welfare desks have been set up across evacuation centers to meet the needs of displaced families. Additionally, PRC Batanes Chapter volunteers treated people injured by the storm’s strong winds and floods.

PRC Chairman Richard Gordon emphasized the continued risk of flooding due to heavy rains and assured that emergency response units and volunteers are on standby to assist. The PRC is also working closely with local government units to conduct rapid damage assessments and identify further needs.
