PAL Extends Riyadh Flight Suspension Until November 29 Amid Airport Security Concerns

Philippine Airlines has extended the suspension of its Manila-Riyadh flights until November 29, citing the developing security situation at King Khalid International Airport in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.

In its advisory, PAL said flights PR654 and PR655 will remain suspended through the end of November as the airline continues to assess whether conditions are safe for operations. The flag carrier said it is monitoring developments closely and will issue further updates when needed.

The suspension comes after attacks at the Riyadh airport reportedly injured four Filipinos, three of whom remain in intensive care. The Department of Migrant Workers and the Overseas Workers Welfare Administration in Riyadh are monitoring their condition and extending assistance to those affected.

The DMW also reminded overseas Filipino workers in Saudi Arabia to avoid areas that may be considered security targets, including military sites and oil facilities. Filipinos at airports were also advised to stay away from crowded areas and remain alert.

PAL passengers scheduled to fly between Manila and Riyadh are urged to check their airline advisories, email updates, and booking details before going to the airport. For OFWs and families depending on these flights, the suspension adds another layer of uncertainty — but for PAL, the immediate priority remains flight safety.
