The Catholic Bishops’ Conference of the Philippines is calling on Filipino Catholics to pray for Pope Leo XIV as he prepares to undergo lung surgery.
CBCP president Archbishop Gilbert Garcera urged the faithful to include the Pope in their prayers, asking for a successful operation, strength during treatment, and a full recovery after the procedure.
Garcera also encouraged bishops and priests across the country to offer Masses for the Pope’s health, turning the appeal into a nationwide act of spiritual support from one of the world’s largest Catholic communities.
For Filipino Catholics, the call is both pastoral and personal. The Pope remains a central figure of unity for the Church, and moments of illness often draw the faithful together in prayer, reflection, and concern.
As the Vatican prepares for the operation, the CBCP’s message is clear: the Filipino Catholic community is being asked to stand with Pope Leo XIV through prayer and solidarity.
