The Metro Manila Film Festival (MMFF) will mark its 50th edition with a Parade of Stars in Manila on December 21, showcasing floats featuring celebrities from the festival’s 10 official entries, according to the Metro Manila Development Authority (MMDA), which organizes the annual event.
The parade, set to begin at 3:00 PM at Kartilya ng Katipunan, will traverse a 12-kilometer route passing through key streets such as Natividad Lopez Street, Jones Bridge, España Boulevard, and Roxas Boulevard, before concluding at the Manila Central Post Office. MMDA Chairman and MMFF concurrent chairman Atty. Don Artes confirmed the parade’s details and described it as a highlight of the festival’s golden anniversary celebrations.
The official entries for this year’s festival, as announced by the MMDA, are The Kingdom, Topakk, Espantaho, And The Breadwinner Is…, Uninvited, Hold Me Close, Green Bones, Strange Frequencies: Taiwan Killer Hospital, Isang Himala, and My Future You.
Traffic adjustments will be enforced along the parade route, with lane closures and a stop-and-go scheme in effect from 12:00 noon to 8:00 PM. Motorists are advised to use alternative routes, as stated in an advisory released by the MMDA. The southbound lanes of MacArthur Bridge will also be closed, with vehicles rerouted through Dasmariñas Street, Juan Luna Street, Plaza Cervantes, Quintin Paredes, and Jones Bridge.
The MMDA assured that street sweepers would be deployed to clean up immediately after the event.
Upon reaching the Manila Central Post Office, the public will have the opportunity to interact with the stars and enjoy a music festival. The MMDA highlighted this as a key feature of the post-parade festivities in its official statement.
