Minimum Wage Rises to ₱582 in Expanded Metro Cebu, ₱542 in Other Covered Areas Starting October 14

More than 300,000 minimum wage earners in Central Visayas are set to receive a ₱42 daily wage increase starting October 14, raising the minimum pay rates for covered private-sector workers across the region.

Under the adjustment, the new minimum wage will rise to ₱582 in expanded Metro Cebu, while workers in other covered areas will receive ₱542 per day. The increase replaces the previous daily rates of ₱540 and ₱500, respectively.

The wage order covers private-sector workers in Cebu, Bohol, Negros Oriental, and Siquijor, giving employees across several industries a modest bump in daily income as households continue to deal with rising food, transport, and utility costs.

For workers, the increase may not erase the pressure of high prices, but it adds immediate relief to take-home pay. For employers, the new rates also mean payroll adjustments must be implemented properly and on time.

Employees who do not receive the mandated increase may file complaints with the Department of Labor and Employment. The bottom line: the wage hike is now in effect, and compliance is not optional.
