Vice President Sara Duterte said she has no plans to resign despite the ongoing Senate impeachment trial, making clear that she intends to remain in office and continue her political path toward 2028.
Duterte also confirmed that she still plans to pursue a presidential run in 2028, signaling that the impeachment case has not weakened her public stance or forced her to step back from national politics. Instead, she framed the trial as a venue where the public can examine the allegations against her more closely.
For Duterte’s camp, the message is direct: she is not treating the impeachment proceedings as a reason to retreat. By choosing to face the process while keeping her 2028 plans on the table, the Vice President is positioning the trial as a test of evidence, credibility, and public judgment.
Duterte also denied owning a property reportedly being looked into by the National Bureau of Investigation, pushing back against another issue surrounding her as the trial continues to draw political attention.
Her defense team is now preparing to present witnesses when the impeachment trial resumes on November 9. Until then, the battle remains both legal and political — with Duterte insisting she will not resign, will not abandon her future plans, and will answer the accusations through the process.
