DHSUD kicks off National Shelter Month with stakeholder engagements

The Department of Human Settlements and Urban Development (DHSUD) officially launched National Shelter Month 2024 (NSM 2024) with various activities aimed at fostering collaboration among regional and grassroots stakeholders. This year’s theme, “Matibay na Tahanan, Matatag na Komunidad para sa Bagong Pilipinas”, aligns with President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr.’s Pambansang Pabahay para sa Pilipino (4PH) Program, which seeks to build resilient and sustainable communities across the nation.

DHSUD Secretary Jose Rizalino Acuzar emphasized the importance of public and private sector collaboration to ensure the success of the housing program. Acuzar highlighted that 4PH is more than just a housing initiative, as it focuses on improving the quality of life for Filipinos by creating inclusive, supportive communities. He also encouraged government housing agencies to turn challenges into opportunities to further strengthen the country’s housing industry.

Regional offices in Bicol, Davao, and the Cordillera Administrative Region kicked off the celebrations with activities such as motorcades, townhall meetings, and stakeholder engagements. The central office will hold its major event on World Habitat Day and wrap up with a closing event on October 30. Throughout the month, housing summits and free seminars for real estate practitioners are scheduled to enhance awareness and drive further developments in the housing sector.

The initiative demonstrates DHSUD’s commitment to promoting sustainable and vibrant communities through the 4PH Program.
