San Beda University will remain in the NCAA for Season 102, but a possible move to the UAAP is not completely off the table.
Chairman Manny V. Pangilinan said discussions on San Beda’s future league affiliation could still happen after the season, keeping the door open for a potential shift once the Red Lions finish their current NCAA campaign.
For now, the focus stays on the court. San Beda enters the season as the defending champion, but its title defense comes with major challenges after losing several key players to the PBA and dealing with the absence of Nygel Gonzales, who is out with an ACL injury.
That makes Season 102 a tougher climb for the Red Lions. Their championship experience remains a weapon, but the roster will have to adjust quickly as other programs line up for a shot at the crown.
Pangilinan expects a tight title race, with Letran, College of St. Benilde, and Jose Rizal University emerging as serious contenders. For San Beda, the mission is clear: defend the NCAA throne first, then settle the bigger question of where the program’s future belongs.
