By Sam Ramos

A Brahminy Kite Eagle, a raptor known for its striking chestnut plumage, was rescued in Lingig, Surigao del Sur, and handed over to authorities for care on Sunday afternoon.

The eagle was discovered by Sphere John Rivas Viroy, a resident of Sitio Cabilan in Barangay Poblacion, who acted swiftly to ensure the bird’s safety by surrendering it to the Lingig Municipal Police Station.

In a statement on Monday, the police expressed appreciation for Viroy’s responsible actions, emphasizing that such efforts contribute significantly to wildlife conservation.

The Brahminy Kite was later transferred to the Community Environment and Natural Resources Office (CENRO) in Bislig City. Officials there will assess the eagle’s health and provide the necessary care to rehabilitate the bird for its eventual return to the wild.

Authorities encouraged the public to report and turn over any wildlife they encounter to ensure their protection and survival.
