The provincial government of Batangas has honored Edwin Mendoza, a municipal rescuer from Balete, who lost seven family members during severe tropical storm Kristine in late October.

Mendoza, part of the Balete Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office, was recognized for his bravery and commitment to saving lives despite personal tragedy. He received a plaque and P150, 000 from Governor Hermilando Mandanas in a ceremony acknowledging his service.

“Thank you to the governor for this recognition, especially as I grieve the loss of my loved ones,” Mendoza said.
