Calasiao wins Pangasinan Governor’s Cup Inter-Town Basketball Title

Team Arangkada Calasiao outlasted Team Asenso Asingan in Game 4 of the 1st Pangasinan Governor’s Cup Inter-Town Basketball Tournament Finals to clinch the championship title, 63-51, last April 27, 2026, at the Calasiao Sports Complex.

Leading the series 2-1, Calasiao drew its scoring from Luke Gonzales through downhill attacks, with five points in the opening period. However, Asingan came out to play, swiftly countering with consecutive jumpers from Mesha Torres, collecting four points to take an early lead, 14-13.

In the second frame, Ryan Jay Untalan propelled Calasiao’s scoring with two triples, contributing right points. Mark Fabia fought back for Asingan with six markers from his fadeaway shots, but Calasiao’s Angelo Cancino made his presence felt, putting up four quick points to snatch the lead at the half, 37-29.

Heading into the second half, Calasiao sustained the momentum courtesy of Ryan Jay Untalan’s fourth triple of the game. On the other hand, Asingan struggled to generate offense, scoring only 11 points in the third period. Lee Aguilar joined the scoring surge with four points through his inside hits, extending Calasiao’s lead to double digits, 54-40.

With six minutes remaining in the fourth quarter, Asingan staged a last-ditch rally with a nine-to-nothing run, keeping the game within striking distance, 57-49.

Calasiao displayed composure and clutch defense, with Ivan Ventura contributing four points and two steals to defuse the threat. Calasiao fended off Asingan’s late-game burst to seal the win and took home the championship prize of 1.5 million pesos.

Ryan Jay Untalan led Calasiao with 15 points, supported by 11 points from Luke Gonzales.

For Asingan, Mark Fabia registered 13 points, along with 12 points from Emmanuel Pablo.
