MANILA – Most areas in the country will continue to experience rains on Friday due to three prevailing weather systems, the weather bureau said.
The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said scattered rains and isolated thunderstorms caused by the shear line will continue to prevail over the Visayas, Bicol Region, Mimaropa, and Quezon.
The shear line is forecast to bring heavy to intense rains over Catanduanes, Albay, Masbate, Sorsogon, and Northern Samar.
It will also cause moderate to heavy rains over Camarines Norte, Camarines Sur, Romblon, Eastern Samar, Aklan, Samar, and Biliran.
Scattered rains and thunderstorms due to the intertropical convergence zone (ITCZ) will be experienced in Caraga and Davao Region.
Meanwhile, the northeast monsoon or “amihan” will bring rains across Cagayan Valley, the Cordillera region, and Central Luzon.
Moderate to heavy rains in these areas could result in flash floods or landslides.
The “amihan” will also cause isolated light rains over the rest of Luzon.
Isolated rain showers are forecast over the rest of Mindanao caused by localized thunderstorms.
Strong to gale winds and rough to very rough seas will prevail across northern Luzon.
Moderate to strong winds and moderate to rough coastal waters will continue to prevail in the eastern sections of Luzon and the Visayas.
Winds will be light to moderate with slight to moderate seas, PAGASA said.
No low-pressure area was monitored for possible tropical cyclone formation, it said. (PNA)
