Zambian traveler caught with P63-M shabu at NAIA

MANILA – A female Zambian national has been arrested for attempting to smuggle PHP63 million worth of illegal drugs through the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) in Pasay City, the Philippine National Police Drug Enforcement Group (PDEG) said Wednesday.

In a statement, PDEG chief Brig. Gen. Eleazar Matta said the 34-year-old suspect was arrested by the NAIA Interagency Drug Interdiction Task Group at the international arrival area of Terminal 3 at around 10:50 p.m. Tuesday.

The suspect yielded 9.276 kg. of shabu concealed in her luggage with a standard drug value of PHP63,076,800.

The seized drugs were brought to the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) for documentation and disposition procedures, while the suspect will face charges for violation of Republic Act (RA) 9165 (Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002), and RA 10863 (Customs Modernization and Tariff Act). (PNA)
