DREDGING PUSH EASES PATOGKAWEN FLOOD WOES

Ongoing dredging at the Patogkawen River is gaining ground as part of the city’s
intensified flood control efforts, made possible through close coordination with the
Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH). Mayor Belen T. Fernandez,
together with City Engineer Josephine Corpuz, personally inspected the site,
underscoring the project’s aim to restore proper water flow and address the area’s long-
standing flooding problem.
DPWH Dredging Project Management Team’s Engr. Jetro Palinlin reported improved
water outflow toward the Pantal river system due to the continuous removal of thick silt
deposits. The dredging forms part of a broader anti-flood strategy that includes road
elevation and drainage upgrades, sustained through active collaboration with barangays
and the DPWH.
