Quiapo Church has new parish priest

MANILA – The Minor Basilica and National Shrine of Jesus Nazareno, popularly known as Quiapo Church, has a new parish priest, the Archdiocese of Manila announced on Wednesday.

In Circular No. 2025-06, Fr. Isidro Marinay, Manila Archdiocese Chancellor, announced the appointment of Fr. Ramon Jade Licuanan to head the minor basilica effective next month.

“We are pleased to inform you that His Eminence, Jose Cardinal Advincula, appointed Fr. Ramon Jade Licuanan as rector and parish priest of the Minor Basilica and National Shrine of Jesus Nazareno (St. John the Baptist Parish – Quiapo Church),” Marinay said.

Licuanan will succeed Fr. Rufino “Jun” Sescon Jr., who has been appointed as the new bishop of the Diocese of Balanga.

Prior to his appointment, Licuanan has been serving as parish priest of the San Felipe Neri Parish in Mandaluyong City.

He is also the Executive Secretary of the Catholic Bishops Conference of the Philippines – Episcopal Commission on Youth, as well as Commissioner of Manila Archdiocese – Commission on Youth. (PNA)
