PH to pitch climate resilience solutions platform in US tech event

MANILA – Following the tripartite collaboration of the Department of Science and Technology (DOST), DEVCON Philippines (DEVCON), and the De La Salle University (DLSU) to develop a climate technology innovation, the partnership will present their flagship project to possible investors in the United States.

The partnership will develop the Climate Resilience Technology (CResT) platform, which solutions focus on providing life-saving warning systems, expanding access to renewable energy, enhancing disaster resilience, and pioneering reforestation through robotics.

DEVCON founder and president Winston Damarillo said CReST will take the spotlight during the San Francisco Tech Week at the Kapwa Gardens in San Francisco, USA on Oct. 8.

“As we collaborate to establish the Philippines as a global hub for climate tech, our vision extends beyond our borders. Through the CResT platform, we are laying the foundation for a sustainable future with solutions that have local impact and global reach,” Damarillo said on Thursday.

CReST will be tested, scaled, and implemented in different parts of the country, with the potential for adoption in other climate-vulnerable nations.

Under the partnership, DEVCON will be leading the development of the CReST while the DLSU will provide the research infrastructure and resources through its research and development arm DLSU Animo Labs.

“The climate crisis is a race against time, and technology is our fastest vehicle to win. Through CResT, we are not only protecting our communities but also establishing the Philippines as a leader in climate tech,” Damarillo said. (PNA)
