The Philippines is hosting the 47th ASEAN Inter-Parliamentary Assembly (AIPA) General Assembly in 2026, with House Speaker Faustino “Bojie” Dy serving as chairperson.
The launch of the Philippine AIPA 2026 presidency was held at the Romualdez Hall of the Batasan Pambansa Complex, coinciding with ASEAN’s 50th anniversary of the Treaty of Amity and Cooperation (TAC) and preparations for the admission of Timor-Leste as ASEAN’s 11th member state.
AIPA Secretary General Dr. Chem Widhya expressed confidence that under Philippine leadership, AIPA will further strengthen its role as a bridge between ASEAN’s collective vision and the aspirations of its peoples.
Speaker Dy said the Philippines assumes the AIPA 2026 presidency with humility and full awareness of the responsibility it entails. The event also unveiled the AIPA 2026 logo and theme song, “One AIPA, One Future,” performed by Koro Filipino.
Pangasinan 4th District Rep. Gina de Venecia, Vice Chairperson of the House Special Committee on ASEAN Affairs—which is directly in charge of AIPA 2026—is also Chairperson of the House Committee on Inter-Parliamentary Relations and Diplomacy and Co-President of the Association of Women Legislators Foundation, Inc. (AWLFI).
AIPA aims to promote closer cooperation among ASEAN parliaments and with other regional and international parliamentary bodies in support of ASEAN goals. At the 46th AIPA in Kuala Lumpur, former Speaker Jose de Venecia received the AIPA Distinguished Service Award for his key role in transforming AIPO into AIPA.
Founded in 1978 in Singapore, AIPA now comprises over 300 parliamentarians from all ten ASEAN member states.
