PCG logs over 36K outbound passengers in ports on January 1

MANILA – Outbound passenger traffic in all ports nationwide has reached 36,094 from 6 a.m. to noon on New Year’s Day, marking a steady flow of marine passenger traffic as the holiday season ends.

The Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) reported the data in a situation update on Wednesday.

In addition to outbound passenger traffic, the PCG reported 29,325 inbound passengers in all ports in the same period.

This figure is higher than the 5,203 outbound passengers and 7,088 inbound passengers from 12 midnight to 6 a.m. on Wednesday.

To date, the PCG has deployed 2,967 frontline personnel in 16 PCG districts nationwide.

These PCG personnel have inspected 255 vessels and 699 motorbancas from 6 a.m. to 12 noon Wednesday.

On Tuesday, the PCG monitored 133,760 outbound passengers and 130,812 inbound passengers in all ports nationwide.

All PCG districts, stations, and sub-stations have been placed on heightened alert from December 20, 2024 to January 3, 2025, as part of the Department of Transportation’s (DOTr) ‘OPLAN Biyaheng Ayos: Pasko 2024.’ (PNA)
