PBBM now in Laos, to meet with Filipino community

MANILA – President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. and First Lady Liza Araneta-Marcos have arrived in Vientiane, Laos on Tuesday afternoon.

The plane carrying the First Couple and the Philippine delegation arrived at the Wattay International Airport at around 4:16 p.m. (Manila time), the Presidential Communications Office (PCO) said in a news release.

They were warmly welcomed by Philippine Ambassador to Lao PDR Deena Joy Amatong, along with other officials from the Philippine Embassy in Vientiane.

Lao PDR Minister of Mining and Energy Phoxay Xayasone and his wife Phonethida Sayida also welcomed President Marcos and his delegation, along with Ministry of Foreign Affairs Director-General for Consular Department Soulisack Soulinthone and Protocol Department Deputy Director-General Outtama Sithiphong.

The President is set to meet with the Filipino community in Lao PDR on Tuesday night where he is expected to reaffirm his commitment to ensuring their welfare and that of their loved ones in the Philippines.

The Chief Executive is in Laos’ capital city for the four-day 44th and 45th Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) Summits and Related Summits. (PNA)
