October Sports Card Releases Feature MLB Rookies, Rare F1 Autographs, and Vintage NFL Designs

Sports card collectors have a packed release schedule ahead as Topps, Panini, and Upper Deck prepare a new wave of products covering baseball, Formula 1, football, and women’s soccer throughout the second half of October.

The lineup includes 2026 Topps Update Baseball, Topps Chrome Formula 1, Topps Heritage Football, and Panini Obsidian Football, each offering different combinations of rookie cards, autographs, memorabilia, and rare inserts. With multiple releases arriving within days of one another, collectors have several opportunities to chase high-demand cards or expand their personal collections.

Topps Update Baseball opened the schedule on October 14, completing the company’s 75th-anniversary flagship baseball series. Its 350-card base checklist features emerging players including Konnor Griffin, Kevin McGonigle, JJ Wetherholt, Justin Crawford, and Travis Bazzana. Collectors can also look for commemorative designs, autograph cards, and Golden Mirror Legend variations featuring retired franchise greats. Hobby boxes include one autograph or relic, while Jumbo boxes offer both.

Attention then turns to motorsports on October 15 with Topps Chrome Formula 1. The collection includes 200 base cards representing F1, F2, and F3 competitors, racing teams, and prominent figures from the sport. Among the headline collectibles is Arvid Lindblad’s one-of-one F1 Debut Patch Autograph, alongside Superfractors, Full Grid parallels numbered to 22, and specialty inserts. Each hobby box is configured to include one Chrome autograph.

Football collectors have two major products scheduled for October 21. Topps Heritage Football brings modern NFL players into a classic 1976-inspired design, featuring a 400-card checklist and vintage-themed autograph opportunities. Notable collectibles include Walter Payton cut-signature content and original 1976 cards bearing signatures from Jack Lambert and Fred Biletnikoff.

Meanwhile, Panini Obsidian Football offers a different collecting experience with its dark Opti-Chrome finish and compact seven-card hobby packs. The product features players such as Julian Sayin, Gunner Stockton, Drew Brees, and Bo Jackson, with each hobby pack containing two autographs, two memorabilia cards, an insert or insert parallel, and two base cards or parallels. Black Color Blast and Black Stained Glass are among its main chase inserts.

The release calendar also includes Upper Deck Metal Universe SE Multi-Sport and Donruss Optic NWSL on October 14, giving collectors additional options outside traditional men’s professional leagues.

For hobby shops, online sellers, and card breakers, the releases represent a busy stretch of new inventory and collector activity. But with so many products competing for attention, buyers may need to be selective about which sets offer the designs, players, and collectibles they actually want.

The next two weeks will bring plenty of new cards to chase, but rarity and release-day excitement do not automatically guarantee long-term resale value. For collectors, the real decision is whether to pursue a premium hit, complete a checklist, or simply add a favorite player to the collection.
