MANILA – The Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines (CAAP) said Monday there was “no major incidents or issues” reported to them during the holiday season.
CAAP operates 44 airports, and was expecting a passenger surge from December 20, 2024 to January 3, 2025.
As of 2:50 p.m. Monday, CAAP public information officer Bea Bernardo said they are still finalizing the total passenger volume during this period.
However, she said CAAP is expecting a 7 to 10 percent increase in passenger volume compared to the previous year’s tally.
CAAP’s data only showed there were 2.4 milion passengers from December 1 to 31, 2023 in its operated airports.
Meanwhile, in a news release, CAAP said Director General Manuel Tamayo thanked personnel who worked diligently over the holidays, ensuring smooth and safe travel for passengers during the peak season.
Tamayo also reaffirmed CAAP’s commitment to upholding the highest safety standards.
“Together, let us make 2025 another meaningful year for CAAP and the Philippine aviation industry,” he was quoted as saying. (PNA)
