Muntinlupa LGU gives reminders on noise during the holidays

The Muntinlupa City government has reminded residents about the ban on firecrackers and modified mufflers or pipes that emit excessive noise during the Christmas season.

Muntinlupa City Ordinance No. 14-092, enacted by the Muntinlupa City Council in 2014, prohibits the manufacture, display, sale, distribution, possession, or use of firecrackers and other pyrotechnic devices, as well as the exploding of such devices within the city’s jurisdiction.

Violators of the ordinance face the following penalties:

First offense: A fine of One Thousand Pesos (₱1,000.00), or imprisonment for up to one month (but no less than two days), or both, at the court’s discretion. Second offense: A fine of Three Thousand Pesos (₱3,000.00), or imprisonment for up to six months (but no less than three months), or both, at the court’s discretion. Third offense: A fine of Five Thousand Pesos (₱5,000.00), or imprisonment for up to six months (but no less than three months), or both, at the court’s discretion.

During the flag-raising ceremony on December 9, Muntinlupa Mayor Ruffy Biazon warned against violations of the open muffler and pipe ban, noting that the number of offenders has been rising each year.
