Manila, QC monitor TS Kristine

The local government of Manila, led by Mayor Honey Lacuña, is continuously keeping a close watch on residents along the shorelines of Manila Bay as typhoon Kristine batters through Luzon. Pre-emptive evacuations commenced on October 24 in the afternoon to ensure the safety of those affected.

Around 140 families residing in high-risk areas have already been pre-emptively evacuated through the efforts of the Manila Disaster Risk Reduction Management Office (MDRRMO) and City Engineering Bureau.

Meanwhile, in Quezon City, the Quezon City Police District (QCPD) has already deployed 262 police personnel to areas affected by flooding, mostly coming from the vicinities of La Loma, Masambong, Galas, and Payatas Bagong Silangan.

QCPD Director P/Col. Melecio M. Buslig Jr. emphasized the importance of guaranteeing public safety, evacuation assistance, and security in severely affected areas.
