Manila evacuates over 1, 000 families amid severe weather

Manila’s local government, led by Mayor Honey Lacuña, announced on Friday that more than 1, 000 families have been evacuated due to ongoing severe weather and rising floodwaters. This proactive evacuation aims to protect residents in flood-prone areas and prevent further risks from the escalating situation.

City officials initiated the evacuation as heavy rains intensified, posing a significant threat of flooding and other hazards in several neighborhoods. Emergency response teams have been dispatched to ensure families are safely relocated to designated shelters.

Mayor Lacuña stressed the importance of prioritizing residents’ safety. The city government is providing evacuees with temporary shelter, food, and essential supplies to address their immediate needs.

Authorities are closely monitoring the situation and working with disaster response teams to manage the crisis and respond to any additional emergencies as they arise.
