The local government of Manaoag has distributed hard hats to daycare pupils as part of efforts to strengthen earthquake preparedness in the community.

The initiative was led by the town’s Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office in coordination with Mayor Jeremy Agerico Rosario.

Hard hats were given to children enrolled in Child Development Centers in Barangays Cabanbanan, Oraan West, Calaocan, Sapang, and Pantal. Officials said the protective gear is intended to help reduce the risk of injury among children in case of an earthquake.

Following the distribution, earthquake simulation training will also be conducted for teachers, parents, and pupils to teach proper safety measures, evacuation procedures, and emergency response during tremors.

Local officials said the activity forms part of the municipality’s disaster preparedness program aimed at improving community readiness for natural hazards.
