MANILA – Offices of the Land Transportation Office (LTO) in areas affected by the recent tropical storms will remain open on Saturdays for motor vehicle registrations, and driver’s license applications and renewals.
In a memorandum, LTO chief Assistant Secretary Vigor Mendoza II said opening the LTO’s district offices, extension offices, and driver’s license renewal offices (DLROs) during the weekend is necessary to accommodate clients whose transactions were affected by Severe Tropical Storm Kristine and Super Typhoon Leon.
“Due to the effects of two typhoons that had hit the country and several work suspensions, which affected most of our transacting public, all Regional Directors/Assistant Regional Directors are mandated to assess the necessity of rendering services and opening offices on Saturdays,” the memorandum read.
Mendoza ordered an assessment of the offices that need to render Saturday services with a focus on areas affected by the flooding brought by Kristine.
The LTO has five district offices in Cavite, four district offices in Rizal, three district offices in Laguna, and the Batangas City and Lipa City district offices in Batangas.
“All DLROs in Calabarzon are now also preparing for the Saturday duty,” it said.
The LTO regional office in Cagayan has scheduled Saturday operations for all district offices, satellite offices, and DLROs from November 9 to December 21.
Earlier, Mendoza announced that penalties for late motor vehicle registration and driver’s license renewal have been waived in consideration of those affected by Kristine. (PNA)
