MANILA – The Land Transportation Office (LTO) promoted almost 500 personnel nationwide in 2024 as part of the government’s efforts to address end-of-contract (endo) employment and fill up the agency’s plantilla positions.
In a news release on Monday, LTO chief Assistant Secretary Vigor Mendoza II said 486 employees received promotions last year, with the National Capital Region (NCR) recording the highest number at 106.
LTO-Calabarzon accounted for 63 and the central office in Quezon City had 48.
“The promotions of our 486 personnel are long overdue and every LTO employee who was promoted deserves it,” Mendoza said.
He said the promotions were a fulfillment of his commitment to address endo in the LTO when he assumed the post in July 2023.
“Job security is a dream of every Filipino and under the Bagong Pilipinas (New Philippines), this should be a priority, especially for those working in the government,” he said.
The promotions were made through the assessment and evaluation of all contract of service employees in the LTO, with those found qualified to be prioritized for promotion as permanent employees.
“Ipagpapatuloy natin ang ganitong magandang polisiya dahil naniniwala ako na (We will continue such positive policies because I believe) this could inspire our personnel to go further and would eventually lead to quality services to all our clients,” he said. (PNA)
