‘Habagat’ to bring rains in Luzon

MANILA – The southwest monsoon or “habagat” will continue to dampen most parts of Luzon with rain showers Monday, the weather bureau said.

In its 4 a.m. advisory, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said it also monitored a low pressure area (LPA) last observed at 1,155 kilometers east northeast of extreme northern Luzon at 3 a.m. which may develop into a tropical depression.

Ilocos Region and the provinces of Apayao and Abra will have occasional rains due to the southwest monsoon.

Cagayan Valley, Central Luzon and the rest of Cordillera Administrative Region is forecast to have cloudy skies with scattered rains and thunderstorms also due to the southwest monsoon.

It will also bring partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms in Metro Manila, Calabarzon, Mimaropa and Bicol Region.

Another LPA was monitored, estimated at 2,810 km. east of Eastern Visayas and still outside the Philippine Area of Responsibility. It has no effect in the country, PAGASA said. (PNA)
