GCash is expanding access to cryptocurrency trading in the Philippines through GCrypto, its digital asset platform powered by the Philippine Digital Asset Exchange (PDAX). The service allows eligible Filipinos to buy, sell, receive, and transfer supported cryptocurrencies directly through the GCash app, eliminating the need to manage a separate trading application. According to GCash, qualified users can complete registration in as little as 30 seconds, access trading services 24 hours a day, and fund their GCrypto wallets directly from their GCash balances without additional cash-in fees.
Beyond buying and selling digital assets, GCrypto supports transfers between its platform and external cryptocurrency wallets or exchanges, allowing users to move supported holdings without first converting them into cash. The service provides access to up to 55 cryptocurrencies, with transfers facilitated through compatible blockchain networks. To register, users must be at least 18 years old, maintain a fully verified GCash account, and satisfy additional eligibility requirements, including having a verified email address and an updated account profile. Eligible users can access the service through GInvest’s GCrypto section within the application, subject to account approval.
The expanded features reflect the growing integration of digital asset services into everyday financial applications, potentially making cryptocurrency transactions more convenient for Filipinos interested in exploring the market. However, convenience does not eliminate investment risk. Cryptocurrency prices can fluctuate sharply, while trading spreads, platform charges, and blockchain transfer fees may still apply despite the absence of cash-in fees. Users should also verify wallet addresses and supported networks before transferring funds, as incorrect cryptocurrency transfers may be irreversible. GCrypto offers a more accessible entry point into digital asset trading, but responsible participation still requires an understanding of the costs and risks involved.
