MANILA – President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. has appointed Richard Anthony Fadullon as prosecutor general of the National Prosecution Service (NPS) of the Department of Justice (DOJ), Malacañang announced Monday.
Executive Secretary Lucas Bersamin transmitted the appointment letter of Fadullon to Justice Secretary Jesus Crispin Remulla in a letter dated October 30.
Fadullon replaced Benedicto Malcontento, who resigned last October after five years of heading the NPS.
Fadullon, who served as acting prosecutor general following Malcontento’s resignation, earned his political science degree from the University of the Philippines and his law degree at the San Beda University.
He served as a clerk of court at the Quezon City Regional Trial Court. He started his already 30-year-old career at the DOJ as a state prosecutor in 1994.
Prior to his new appointment, Fadullon served as Senior Deputy State Prosecutor for several years.
Meanwhile, Remulla expressed his full confidence over the appointment of Fadullon.
“I am extremely confident in your skill, experience and resolve that you are the perfect fit for the title of Prosecutor General capable of upholding the rule of law with fearlessness and utmost integrity,” Remulla told Fadullon in a statement. (with a report from Benjamin Pulta/PNA)
