MANILA – Senate President Francis Escudero extended his gratitude and well-wishes to his colleagues and staff during the final Senate session for the year on Wednesday night.
Addressing members in the Senate Session Hall, he acknowledged the efforts and dedication of his colleagues, including Senate President Pro Tempore Jinggoy Estrada, Senate Minority Leader Koko Pimentel, and other senators who stayed late for the year-end session.
Escudero also lauded the Senate staff for their unwavering commitment, despite the cancellation of this year’s Christmas party.
“Kayo ang nagpapaganda sa amin sa harap ng kamera bagaman kayo ay nasa likod ng ilaw ng kamera (You are the ones who make us look good in front of the camera even though you are behind the light of the camera),” he said, emphasizing their vital role in the institution’s operations.
Escudero concluded his message with a prayerful note, wishing for a meaningful holiday season and a prosperous 2025 for all.
“Nawa’y harapin natin ito ng may buong pag-asa, pananampalataya, at paniniwala na ang darating na 2025 ay maging mas maganda, mas maayos, mas magbibigay ng kaunlaran at kapayapaan (May we face it full of hope, faith, and belief that the coming 2025 will be better, more orderly, and will bring more prosperity and peace),” he said.
During the adjournment, all regular standing, oversight, and special committees remain authorized to hold hearings, meetings, and consultations under Senate Resolution 21.
This ensures continuity in deliberating pending proposed legislation and allows investigations into national issues to aid in the legislative process.
Congress will resume regular sessions on January 13, 2025. (PNA)
