MANILA – The Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT) said around 30 government agencies have been integrated into the eGovPH super app, with various government services now unified on a single platform.
In a Bagong Pilipinas interview on Thursday, DICT Secretary Ivan John Uy underscored the app’s role in streamlining government services.
“Ngayon may mga tatlumpung ahensiya ng gobyerno ngayon ang naka-connect dito sa eGov platform na ito at ini-expand pa natin at makasali iyong ibang mga ahensiya ng gobyerno (There are now 30 agencies connected into the eGov platform and we’re expanding to include more government agencies),” Uy said.
A common complaint among the public, he said, is providing the same information and requirements repeatedly for different government services.
“Kaniya-kaniya, so walang data governance, walang data standards, walang harmonization (They’re on their own, no data governance or standards, there’s no harmonization),” he said.
The DICT has resolved these issues with a data exchange platform on the eGovPH app that reconciles various data formats, ensuring seamless interaction between agencies.
He said the eGovPH app offers “24/7 governance,” allowing citizens to transact with government agencies at any time, including nights, early mornings, holidays, and weekends.
Additionally, the app is integrated with the national ID system, providing access to digital national IDs for the 85 million registered citizens.
The eReport system, another feature of the app, enables citizens to report incidents in real-time.
Aside from making it easier for the public to report crimes, he said, the app also sends the relevant information to police officers within the vicinity of the incident, making it more efficient compared to the standard emergency calls system.
“I am only three minutes away from that, I will respond, pag-click ng respond, malalaman ngayon ng headquarters at malalaman ng kapwa pulis niya na mayroon nang rumespondeng pulis doon, so hindi na nila kailangang umalis pa sa puwesto nila dahil coordinated na (If I’m police and I’m only three minutes away and I click respond, the headquarters and other police officers will know someone has responded, telling them that there is no need to vacate their position),” he said.
To date, the system has been piloted in San Juan City to enhance police response and coordination.
“Tuwang-tuwa si Mayor [Francis] Zamora diyan, dahil nakita nila na very effective itong system na ito (Mayor Zamora is very happy with it because they can see how effective the system is),” he said. (PNA)
