DepEd trains teachers in ESM to boost learning outcomes

MANILA – The Department of Education (DepEd) on Monday announced trainings for teachers to boost learning outcomes in English, Science, and Mathematics (ESM) in partnership with Khan Academy and e-learning content developer Frontlearners.

In a statement, Education Secretary Sonny Angara said teachers are expected to acquire “cutting-edge tools” and strategies during the January 13 to 15 trainings in order to elevate learners’ grasp of ESM to a world-class level.

“By empowering our educators, we are not only enhancing classroom learning but also preparing our learners to excel academically and meet the challenges of an ever-evolving world,” he said.

In particular, the training aims to equip teachers to become Learning Sessions and Socio-emotional Learning (SEL) facilitators in their select subject areas.

School Division superintendents will identify SEL facilitators, who will then implement an eight-week learning session with learners from January 16 to March 10.

It will involve the usage of DepEd’s Learning Management System (LMS), Khan Academy and Frontlearners platforms. (PNA)
