DAVAO CITY – The Department of Education (DepEd) 11 (Davao Region) announced Tuesday that 34, 133 Grade 12 students completed the Technical-Vocational-Livelihood (TVL) Track for School Year (SY) 2023-2024.
During the Kapihan sa Bagong Pilipinas forum, DepEd-11 Director Allan Farnazo shared that of the graduates, 54.36 percent pursued higher education, 29.11 percent opted for middle-level skills development, 2.74 percent ventured into entrepreneurship, and 13.79 percent entered the workforce.
“We have numerous programs in DepEd-11, and each division takes initiatives to ensure we achieve our goals. These include efforts to digitize government services for faster and more efficient transactions,” Farnazo said.
The TVL Track equips Grade 12 students with practical skills and knowledge in various vocational fields, preparing them for employment opportunities.
Farnazo also noted that DepEd-11 oversees 11 school division offices and 2, 704 schools, including 2, 218 public and 486 private institutions.
For SY 2023-2024, basic education enrollment surged to 1.4 million students, spanning kindergarten to Grade 12, marking a 0.64 percent increase from the previous school year.
“In private schools, we saw a 2.36 percent rise, or an additional 3, 814 students, compared to last year. For senior high school, there was a 14.65 percent increase in enrollment this year,” Farnazo added.
He highlighted that 87.73 percent of DepEd’s 54, 231-strong workforce are teaching personnel, while the remaining 12.27 percent are non-teaching staff. (PNA)
