Business owners urged to renew permits online for efficient transactions

The Davao City Business Bureau encouraged business owners on Friday to use the city’s online platform for renewing permits to ensure a smoother and more efficient process.

Maribel Paguican, officer-in-charge of the Business Bureau, highlighted that online transactions allow clients to complete their renewals from the comfort of their homes, avoiding long lines and minimizing health and safety risks.

Aside from the online platform, business owners can also utilize the Business Permit One-Stop Shop (BPOSS), which operates from January 2 to 31. The BPOSS will be open daily, including all Saturdays and the last Sunday of the month, to accommodate applicants.

Paguican reminded business owners that failure to renew permits within the prescribed period will incur a 25 percent penalty. However, renewals beyond January 31 are still accepted but will include additional penalties and charges.

She also urged owners of closed businesses to formally file for the retirement of their business permits to avoid future liabilities. Business owners with deficiencies in regulatory requirements, such as those from the Office of the City Building Official, are advised to settle these issues promptly to avoid delays.

For onsite renewals, the process involves three steps: submitting renewal requirements, paying applicable fees, and claiming the business permit. The streamlined process aims to make permit renewals more accessible and efficient for the city’s entrepreneurs.
