A growing number of social media posts about business closures have prompted discussions among Filipino entrepreneurs, with some describing the difficult decision to shut down businesses they had operated for years.
Several business owners have shared their experiences online. One netizen said a friend’s 15-year-old business had closed, while another cited the shutdown of a salon that had operated for nearly two decades. Store owner William Rosales of WPK2 Variety Store/BossTech Variety Store also announced plans to close on November 16. Another entrepreneur, Nicole Tes, shared that she was facing a similar situation after 14 years in business.
The closure of Filipino comfort food restaurant Recovery Food has also drawn attention. Its last remaining branch at BGC Crossroads in Taguig reportedly closed on November 1, ending more than 14 years of operations. The restaurant was known for its Filipino meals and 24-hour service.
While the reasons behind individual closures have not all been established, the accounts have highlighted the challenges faced by entrepreneurs in keeping their businesses operational. The social media posts, however, do not by themselves establish the extent of business closures nationwide.
