Barangay urges mayor to deny LPG permit in Dagupan

DAGUPAN CITY — Mayor Belen Fernandez has been urged to deny the mayor’s permit application of a businessman operating a Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) distribution and retail business within a residential area in Barangay Caranglaan.
The appeal follows a barangay resolution ordering businessman Eric Ayuban to cease operations of his LPG business located in Sanggunian Village, Barangay Caranglaan. The business reportedly operates out of two warehouses within the residential community.
According to the resolution, the LPG facility poses a serious hazard to the safety and well-being of residents. Acting on the recommendation of Punong Barangay Gregorio Claveria Jr., the barangay council called for the immediate closure of the establishment.
The resolution also cited persistent complaints from residents, including lawyer Francisco Baraan  III, regarding the continued operation of the LPG business in the area.
Punong Barangay Claveria has asked Mayor Fernandez to give due consideration to the barangay’s action by denying Ayuban’s application for a mayor’s permit.
