Ayungin shoal resupply mission incident‐free, AFP says

In observance of the 83rd Araw ng Kagitingan on Wednesday, the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) announced that it successfully completed a routine troop rotation and resupply operation to the personnel manning the BRP Sierra Madre (LS-57) in Ayungin Shoal, West Philippine Sea. The AFP said the mission was carried out in close coordination with the Philippine Coast Guard and concluded without any untoward incident.

The AFP noted that this April 9 resupply mission is the seventh consecutive operation conducted without incident since July last year. Previous routine operations were carried out on July 27, 2024; September 26, 2024; November 14, 2024; December 12, 2024; January 24, 2025; and March 4, 2025.

“As the nation commemorates the 83rd anniversary of the Day of Valor, we honor the courage and dedication of our soldiers aboard the BRP Sierra Madre who remain steadfast in safeguarding our sovereignty and national interest in the West Philippine Sea,” the AFP stated.
