Motorists may face another painful round of fuel price increases this week, with early estimates showing gasoline could rise by ₱4.50 to ₱5.00 per liter, while diesel may go up by ₱2.00 to ₱2.50 per liter.
The projected hike comes only days after pump prices already climbed by as much as ₱5.58 per liter, adding more pressure on drivers, commuters, delivery riders, and businesses still absorbing the latest increase. If the new adjustment pushes through, it would mark another major hit at the pump in a short span of time.
Jetti Petroleum president Leo Bellas said the upward pressure is being driven by renewed fighting in the Middle East, tighter global supply, and stronger fuel demand. With oil markets sensitive to any disruption in conflict-hit regions, prices can move quickly when traders expect supply risks to worsen.
For Filipino households, the concern goes beyond private vehicles. Higher fuel costs often spill into transport fares, delivery charges, food prices, and daily operating expenses for small businesses. Diesel hikes are especially sensitive because they affect public transport and the movement of goods across the country.
The final price adjustments will still depend on market movements before oil companies announce their official advisories. But for now, the warning is clear: another pump price shock may be coming, and consumers may have to brace for a fresh round of higher costs this week.
