LEGAZPI CITY – The provincial government of Albay has ordered the 104, 703 families, consisting of 380, 152 individuals, staying in various evacuation centers to be safe from Super Typhoon Pepito (international name Man-yi) to return home on Sunday.
An advisory from Albay’s Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council – Albay Public Safety and Emergency Management Office (PDRRMC-APSEMO) showed the localized decampment was ordered and signed by Albay acting Governor Baby Glenda Ong Bongao.
“As Super Typhoon Pepito continues to move away from Albay, and with the associated hazards from the weather disturbance diminishing, along with the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration’s (PAGASA) downgrading of the Tropical Cyclone Wind Signal in Albay, respective local government units (LGUs) are directed,” Bongao said in her order.
She added that the local authorities must ensure and verify the safety of residents returning to their communities.
“The LGUs and Barangay Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Committees (BDRRMCs) are also required to lead the decampment of displaced residents, as well as the cleaning of temporary shelters and evacuation centers,” she said.
Bongao also ordered the return to work in government offices, private sectors, and business establishments starting Sunday.
Based on the latest report, at least eight LGUs have enforced decampment — Sto. Domingo, Pio Duran, Malinao, Camalig, Tabaco City, Malilipot, Legazpi City, and Tiwi.
Based on PAGASA’s 11 a.m. bulletin, Albay is now under Tropical Cyclone Wind Signal (TCWS) No. 1. (PNA)
