ACEN activates 60-MW solar plant in Pangasinan

By Ahikam Pasion
SAN MANUEL—ACEN Corp., the energy arm of the Ayala Group, has energized its 60-megawatt San Manuel Solar Project in Pangasinan, boosting solar capacity in Northern Luzon
.
The facility has 108,752 solar panels and is linked to the national grid via a 1.8-kilometer transmission line. It is expected to generate about 94 gigawatt-hours of electricity annually, enough to power around 55,000 homes and cut more than 58,000 metric tons of carbon dioxide emissions each year.
ACEN said the project supports the government’s goal of raising renewables to 35 percent of the power mix by 2030.
The company has nearly 7 gigawatts of renewable capacity across the Philippines and other Asia-Pacific markets, with more projects underway.
