PhilHealth just stepped up its support for Filipinos living with HIV — with bigger benefits and stronger privacy protections.

Marking World AIDS Day, the agency rolled out major upgrades to its Outpatient HIV/AIDS Treatment (OHAT) Package, nearly doubling annual financial coverage and reinforcing confidentiality safeguards to ensure no one is afraid to seek care.

The enhanced package now provides ₱58,500 per year — a 95% increase from the previous ₱30,000 — covering antiretroviral therapy (ART), essential labs, and clinical services for anyone with a confirmed HIV diagnosis in accredited facilities, regardless of disease stage.

PhilHealth Acting President & CEO Dr. Edwin Mercado assured the community that treatment is both accessible and discreet, emphasizing their commitment to personal data protection:
“Huwag kayong matakot… we will protect your personal information.”

The move comes as the Department of Health reported over 5,500 new cases from July to September alone, pushing the call for a national public health emergency. PhilHealth’s expanded HIV response aligns with President Marcos’ push for wider testing, early diagnosis, and sustained access to life-saving medication.

With 234 accredited HIV treatment hubs nationwide and over ₱1.66 billion released for OHAT claims last year, PhilHealth says it is doubling down on support — especially for adolescents, where infections are rising fastest.

The message is clear: You are not alone. Treatment is available, protected, and within reach.
